THE CHRISTMAS TREE SHOPS
On Friday, May 23, the Catholic Women’s Club hosted a lovely Spring luncheon for over 75 members and guests. Following the meal, guest speaker Anthony Sammarco, author of over 80 books, gave a presentation on his latest publication The Christmas Tree Shops. Nostalgia runs deep over The Christmas Tree Shops, now closed, and Mr. Sammarco did not disappoint in stirring memories of shopping experiences. He shared the founding history and expansion of The Christmas Tree Shops from their humble beginnings on Rte 6a in Yarmouth Port in 1970 to 23 stores over a period of three decades. Founded by Chuck and Doreen Bilezikian as a young couple each store evoked a ‘specialness’ in its unique architectural design and, most importantly, its bargains. This charming program concluded with dessert and coffee while memories continued to be shared about The Christmas Tree Shops.
