Cape Cod’s leading domestic and sexual violence emergency housing resource, counseling, and advocacy center to address and prevent domestic and sexual violence.

I want to find a counselor or therapist. What are some things I should consider? It is important to identify a counselor who is able to help you to integrate your spiritual and religious beliefs and practices into your treatment.

Ask friends, family, and your church community to see if they have someone they would recommend. Choosing the right person is important, much like you would choose a doctor. What should you look for?

Do I need to see a Catholic counselor or therapist? 
Strive for one with a Christian or Catholic theology.

Review the websites of the counselors or therapists. This will inform you about insurance, fees, and if they are taking new clients. If you have any doubts, please call them.

You can interview the therapist you would like to go to. Take some time before your first appointment to write down some questions you may have, especially if it is your first time seeking therapy.

A faith-sharing group for those who mourn, Seasons of Hope has 4 six weeks “seasons” that offer Christ-centered material using scripture, prayer, reflection activities, and faith-sharing. This program is in Catholic parishes across America. Seasons of Hope is a free parish-based program.

Support after a Death by Overdose

 

SADOD provides resources, information, and assistance to people throughout Massachusetts who have been affected by the death of someone they care about from a substance-use-related cause. Our focus is on increasing the capacity and effectiveness of peer grief support for bereaved people, frontline care providers, and people in recovery or struggling with drug use.

Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit bereavement organization that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, primary caregiver, or significant person.
